Make Room For 2/21
I want to say thank you. The past two weeks have been incredible. I've heard from so many of you and am humbled by the response to this newsletter's simplified and more straightforward format. I have been working hard to merge what my therapist and I call the previous contrived "Andy Ellwood Dot Com" brand and the actual "Andy" truth into one authentic voice. I hope that this medium continues to open up an opportunity to do so and get to know each other better.
I genuinely do hope that you'll keep giving me feedback as we go. I want this to be the most two-way street newsletter on the internet and I need your help to pull that off. All ideas are welcome!
Trip I'm Excited To Take
It has been four years since I have taken the SXSW challenge and I can't wait to be back in Austin for the first time since the pandemic. This will be my 10th SXSW and I wouldn't be surprised if it was one of my favorites. Will you be there? Do you want an invite to my Saturday afternoon meet-up?
Send me a note and tell me what your SXSW plans are!
Quote I'm Pondering
The real problem of humanity is we have paleolithic emotions, medieval institutions, and God-like technology. And it is terrifically dangerous, and it is now approaching a point of crisis overall.” - Edward O. Wilson
Playlist That Gives Me Feels
I don't envy the Duttons, but damn do I love the soundtrack their epics are set against. Props to Paramount Network for putting together the Official Yellowstone Playlist and giving us wanna-be-Rips tunes to serenade our own daily dramas. Any playlist that over-indexes on Ryan Bingham is okay with me.
Video I'm Glad I Watched
After rewatching Top Gun Maverick this weekend with Maddie, the internet knew I was jonesing for some more Tom Cruise goodness. And this was a special kind of goodness.
The dedication to each step of the stunt is intense. The vision for what will make the audience pay attention is next level. The internal questions of "what would it take for me to be able to pull off that kind of physical feat?" are motivating, even if completely unrealistic. The promotion of this stunt has me excited for this next Mission Impossible offering, even if it is 5 months away.
Community Moment I Can't Wait For
Next Monday night is our monthly community Meet-Up. We did this a few times last year and it was so much fun to get together for a virtual happy hour and talk through the most memorable moments from our respective lives over the past 30 days. For now, it is only for paid community members, but that crew has grown to include the most incredible souls and curious minds. Some that I knew before starting to Make Room, and others that I've had the privilege to get to know through this evolving experiment. Want to join us?
I hope today is another day in a long line of great days. And if it's not, I hope tomorrow is the beginning of a new streak of greatness for you.
Make Room For Many,
Andy
